The Village Weavers

Standing guard, while the spouse builds the nest
From Day One in Mauritius, we have been captivated by this hard-working bird, the Village Weaver.  She is architect, engineer, contractor, and builder, all in one.  She builds some beautiful, ornate nests hanging from branches in several different kinds of trees; and they tend to be community birds, so they pick a tree and many birds build nests together in the same tree.  Just up the street from us, in Pointe aux Piments park is a large colony of these birds . . . they are noisy, yes, but very industrious!

The description of the Village Weaver from Wikipedia is linked here.
