Mentoring Mediation to Mauritian Magistrates

I've done mediation as part of my law practice for 26 years.  I think lawyers and judges should do alternative dispute resolution as much as possible.  The Chief Justice of the Mauritius Supreme Court, Justice Sik Yuen, agrees with me, and asked that I work with the Institute of Judicial and Legal Studies of Mauritius to train the country's magistrate judges techniques of mediation.  On Friday, I had the honor to conduct such a training session for these judges---they did a role play, and then we developed some principles that will be helpful to reduce their overwhelming case loads.  And we had some fun in the process!

Albuquerque Friends!

The best part of our recent trip to Albuquerque was the chance to reconnect with friends and family.  Many friends came out to our happy hour, and Bob S. was a terrific photographer!  I can't resist posting some of the many pictures of these good buddies.  If we missed seeing you, join us next year!!!

Return to ABQ City Hall

I had hoped for about 5 minutes of Mayor Berry's time, just to drop by to say hi.  But, he insisted on a gathering of the City department directors and Mayor's Office staff to hear about the Campbells' life in the foreign service.  It was a very nice reunion of a terrific team of professionals, with a chance to discuss the similarities and differences of municipal governance in Mauritius, Seychelles, and Albuquerque.  ABQ has come a long way, and more is on that beautiful horizon. Thanks, friends, for a great day of sharing!

Glendora's Day at Santa Fe National Cemetery

All four of our parents are now at rest on the same sunny hillside in north Santa Fe; we celebrated Glendora's life in a commitment service on Friday, and re-united her with her beloved Ike beneath the trees and soil at the top of the hill.  Shelly gave a beautiful tribute to her mom, focused on gratitude for the wonderful life Glendora led, and the peacefulness of her passing.  A beautiful day, made bittersweet by our sad undertaking.

Comanche Cubs Come Together

Many of Shelly's dear friends from her principalship at Comanche Elementary gathered last week for a Dream Team reunion.  Hosted by Jean Hollowwa and Debbie Seeley, it was a great gathering of teachers, administrators, parents--and a student--who were all good friends from their ten years together.  Oh, and Mrs. Campbell's husband was there, too. Smiles, laughter, and hugs galore--culminating in a Staff Photo! Doesn't get better than this!
