Hibiscus: Delicate, Beautiful and Strong

So, after last week's high winds that knocked down palm fronds, coconuts, and re-organized the beach, you wouldn't think delicate flowers could survive.  But, happily, you would be wrong.  The delicate hibiscus flowers did quite well through it all, and have emerged just as beautiful and delicate as ever.  Shelly brings some beautiful blossoms into the house, brightening up the dining table and buffet.  Aside from being gorgeous blooms, hibiscus plants and flowers have a very interesting history as religious symbols, national flowers, and uses in medicines and beverages.  Click here for some interesting hibiscus reading, and enjoy these photos of post-storm flowers from around the yard.
