Life with Wife---30 Years!!

Okay, we've had some fun with this Lack of Adult Supervision stuff, but I have to admit that Life with Wife is better than ever, as we approach (in two weeks) thirty years of wedded bliss.  I have cleaned up the house, and am ready to receive some supervision.  Take a look at the wonderful benefits and fun of a supervised life!!!  Welcome home, Honey!

Lack of Adult Supervision: Fifth (and Final) Weekend

Me and the submerged Jesus
Shelly is back next Saturday, so I needed one more unsupervised adventure . . . this one was underwater!  Went SCUBA diving with my diving buddy Alex and our friends at Tortuga Diving.  Four hour-long dives over two days caps off my diving in Ecuador's Pacific waters.  Highly recommend my divemaster Pablo at Tortuga Divers---he's a careful and cautious teacher, and loves to show us the wonders of the world underwater.  Hurry home, Shelly!  I need supervision!

Biggest pufferfish ever!

sushi for mid-morning snack! Awesome!

More of David's Watercolors

Scottish Castle and Bridge
I used a nice photo of a Scottish castle and bridge as inspiration for my latest watercolor painting.

There are some others too . . .  inspired by Arches National Park and Multnomah Falls, Oregon.

Still having fun with my artwork and classes!

Lack of Adult Supervision: Fourth Weekend

My new "best friend" Jorge of the Jungle
Hippie Heaven without the drugs!!!!  Just a few kilometers from the Ecuador coast, in the midst of a dense jungle lies the healing and healthy Bromelia Lodge resort.  For my fourth weekend without adult supervision, I spent the Presidents' Day holiday at Bromelia.  Run by the highly energetic Tito, the site offered massage, meditation, Reiki treatments, aura balancing, natural foods, bonfire cleansing ceremonies, and card readings.  I did all of that, and came away an evolved human being in just 3 days. There was a constant flow of very interesting guests, visitors, and invited shamans.  A combination of eastern religions, Mayan spirituality, and just plain healthy living deep in the Ecuadorian jungle.   The strongest substances were fresh ginger infused bottled water.
What a trip!!!

Lack of Adult Supervision: Third Weekend

ChiChi in the red shirt had a Hole in One yesterday!
I thought it might be tough to out-do last weekend's deep sea fishing trip for demonstrating the risks of a total lack of adult supervision . . . Shelly's been in the USA for 17 days (count 'em--17!), but this weekend's been another blast.  Can you imagine 54 holes of golf at the Cuenca Tennis and Golf Club high in the Andes?  The air is so rarified, the ball travels at warp speed to its intended target  . . .  (except when, like me, you have a handicap of 36).  My golf buddy, Carlos and I teamed up with ChiChi and Ivan for a great round of golf today.  ChiChi is so good he sunk a Hole in One on the 18th yesterday! This is Carnaval weekend in South America, so we have 4 days off . . . what will we do on Tuesday?  Another 18 holes at our steamy, humid home course at La Costa in Guayaquil.  If you see my wife, please do tell Shelly that I miss her so, and to hurry back for some much-needed supervision!

Hey, David, it's your tee shot.  Stop taking photos!

Lack of Adult Supervision: Second Weekend

Ecuadorians call it Wayampe, a mild white fish,
but quite a fighter!
Shelly's been in the USA for 10 days now, and I've got no adult supervision.  The first weekend featured 36 holes of golf - - - the second was a weekend on the coast featuring deep sea fishing from Puerto Lopez, Ecuador.

Rosita departed the dock at 4 am, and we were back by 4 pm.  About 25 miles out to sea with expert Ecuadorian fishermen Carlos and his son Alex along with my weekend Canadian compatriots Eric, Lorna, and Jim.  We had a blast and caught some fish!

Lorna had good luck

So did Jim

Eric had fun and organized the trip

Lack of Adult Supervision

Shelly has gone to the United States to visit family and friends and to do some house hunting for our new home in the nation's capital.  (The same nation's capital that is buried under a couple feet of snow today.)

Therefore, I am without adult supervision . . . here's how my friend Carlos and I spent Snowpocalypse/Snowmageddon in Ecuador today.  Both the temperature and my 18 hole score (handicap adjusted) were in the 80s.
