In December, we traveled to Nicaragua in Central America to spend two weeks being immersed in Spanish, taking intensive lessons and visiting interesting and important cultural sites. We were in Granada, one of the country's best preserved and most charming cities. We had the additional good fortune to live in Raquel Ybarra's home, taking each of our meals with her family. Every morning at school, we had four hours of one-on-one Spanish instruction. Weekends, we visited sites all around the country with the Nelson family, our good friends who are also in the diplomatic corps. It was a great way to improve our Spanish, and to get ready to live in South America!
