Carnaval in Rio features hundreds of neighborhood parades and parties called "Blocos". One of the most famous is the Banda de Ipanema bloco on Saturday of Carnaval weekend. We staked out a place early and watched the world go by . . . and what a world! Young and old, all the colors of the rainbow, fully dressed and mostly undressed, boy-girl, boy-boy, girl-girl and boys as girls. Here are some shots of a big bloco.
