Mashpi Lodge in the Cloud Forest

This place is spectacular . . . a first rate resort set in the middle of a 3400 acre nature reserve and cloud forest.  It was our springboard to explore the natural
world of this corner of Ecuador, a country well known for its biodiversity.  We spent the better part of four days hiking and exploring this foggy, drippy world, every inch of which is filled with life, flora, and fauna.  The lodge itself has the highest standards of customer service, tour guiding, and cuisine.  Many of the meals were made or spiced with the reserve's plants.  There was a hike to a nearby waterfall, a sky-bike across a crevasse to explore the active world of the forest canopy, and a trip to the butterfly focused Life Center.  We returned refreshed and invigorated about the wonders of the natural world and our roles to be its good stewards.  Enjoy these photos of a magical place!
