Dance Diplomacy: East Meets West(ern)

For Valentines Day, Shelly and I got 6 months of dance lessons for each other!  Our goal:  to learn salsa, cha cha, samba, mambo, cumbia, merengue and all the other wonderful Latin dances before we move to South America! So, after a couple weeks of mambo lessons, our dance instructor invited us to a social dance where his students spent a Sunday afternoon dancing in one of Mauritius' lovely resorts!  Most of the dancers were Chinese-Mauritians, and the theme was Western . . . dancers wore Country Western garb . . . plaid shirts, cowboy hats, boots, and bandanas.  It was a blast seeing so many happy dancers, who love our US Western dances!  Two step, waltzes, line dance, and cotton eyed joe.  We could have easily been at ABQ's Caravan East club on Central!  We'll keep you posted on our dance progress, but so far it's just plain fun!
