When Mauritius celebrates its independence, it goes all out! On Monday, this country celebrated its 44th anniversary of independence from Great Britain. They invited the President of Seychelles to be the guest of honor at the festivities, so the main routes have been festooned with both Mauritius and Seychelles flags. Heather and I took pictures of just the flags and bunting just in the downtown Port Louis area, in the collage above. There were music groups, fireworks, speeches, fancy clothes, clowns, mimes, and large gatherings all weekend to celebrate. We took in most everything, but spent several hours on Monday in the ocean, swimming with dolphins! Stay tuned!
