My brother Jay, his wife Elena, son Moses, and family friend Vanessa arrived in Mauritius on Friday . . . and what a wonderful reunion it's been! They arrived here after spending three days on a photo safari in Kruger National Park in South Africa. Amazing pictures and stories they have . . . lions and giraffes and hippos and elephants all around their jeep in the wild!
We are now convinced that a safari trip to Africa is in the cards for us sometime in the next year. We are thoroughly enjoying having Jay and family here
in Mauritius with us. Jay and Moses are amateur astronomers, and let us know that Saturday night would be a full lunar eclipse. We went out to a beach on the east side of Mauritius and watched the moon come out of the full eclipse just above the horizon! What a wonderful sight. Today, we all went snorkeling in the ocean behind our house . . . appreciating more of earth's wonders. In the next few days and weeks, while family and friends in ABQ and the rest of the US suffer through freezing temps, we'll have museum visits, boat trips, swimming, dolphin watching, and just some great time to relax and enjoy the wonders of family and friends. Tomorrow, Monday the 12th is another big day for us, as daughter Heather returns "home" to a place she's never been before . . . from Kazakhstan with love. We're looking forward to an extended stay with her here. A houseful of family! We're loving it!
